Paris, France Study Abroad Trip
Donation protected
Greetings to whoever may be reading this,
My name is Kalyn and I am an undergraduate student studying Journalism/Mass Communication at The George Washington University.
It took me three times to decide what I wanted my major to be. When I finally decided on Journalism, I dedicated myself to learning everything about it, inside and out.
Every time I thought of going abroad for school, I always thought of going to Europe, specifically, France. When I searched for abroad programs, I found this one: a short term abroad program for Spring Semester 2020 to go to Paris to study Globalization and the Media. I applied and a few weeks later, received the news that I got accepted. This also counts as a course that qualifies as credible toward completing my electives.
Reaching the second half of my junior year, I've worked endlessly to complete my academic requirements as well as follow my responsibility as Assistant Editor of The Black Ace Magazine at my university. I was also granted an internship for College Magazine where I published my very first web article.
This trip will allow me the chance to learn about what my future career will entail internationally with the help of other experienced journalists, executives and government officials. To study reporting from a new point of view will help me strive toward true objectivity and also give me greater cultural awareness being in space away from the norms I am used to. Writing outside of my American lens will be a challenge, however, I find it to be an important skill to dismiss implicit biases when reporting.
However, I'll need some help, financially, to prepare for this opportunity. All donations will go toward books, airfare, transportation, lodging and meals. I hope you find it in your heart to donate. Every dollar and penny counts to me.
