Parker’s fight against cancer
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Renee Pasap. I am starting a GoFundMe fundraiser for my family, specifically my youngest daughter, Parker Rae-Lyn Dawn. My daughter Parker was diagnosed with a rare stage 4 bone cancer, called rhabdomyosarcoma, with a FOXO 1 positive genetic marker on august 08, 2021 at just 16months old. The doctors found multiple tumour masses all over her body. She’s gone through every test imaginable. Parker began intensive chemotherapy in august of 2022, and under went 8 weeks of intensive radiation therapy in Jan-feb 2023. The doctors had informed us that the diagnosis has a very poor prognosis, with only a 10-5% survival rate. The only option to help Parker fight her disease, was 18months of four different kinds of intensive Chemotherapy weekly, with intensive radiation.
Parker had been fighting her cancer for nine months, she’d gone through all kinds of testing, scans and treatments. She had completed 8 weeks of radiation and nine months of chemotherapy. She’d been in and out of hospitals almost daily, from Regina to Saskatoon. Parker was responding to her treatments well, and continued to Amaze us all. But on may 15th 2023 Parker started to have signs of what looked like a stroke, and was required to go under more emergency scans and tests with neurologist specialists in Saskatoon. The tests detected a small growth along her brain stem, but the medical team could not determine if it was disease or inflammation/infection; so they sent us home and just continued her regular treatments.
Unfortunately, on June 16th 2023, Parker relapsed on treatments. She had almost completed her regime A, and was preparing to start her maintenance, before a devastating night of relapse. The doctors didn’t think she would make it through the night, because her cancer is so fast progressing; But being the fighter she is, Parker made it through the night. The medical teams completed more tests and scans and discovered that the cancer has spread to her brain stem and is coated along her spine. With this devastating news, we made the decision to do another round of intensive radiation therapy. In hopes to bring her more comfort and relief.
In order to receive the best care, Parker needs to remain in Saskatoon at the Jim Pattinson’s Children Hospital. We are the only family Parker has and we want to stay together, by her side and support her the best we can.
So, I am organizing this fundraiser to help offset costs of our stay, medical needs in Saskatoon, and assistance in my daughter Parker’s end of life arrangements. I am a single mother of three girls, we relocated to Saskatoon to be with Parker, where we will remain. Our home is four hours away near Wolseley, SK- and Due to her sudden and severe relapse I am unable to work at this time; and prior to Parker’s diagnosis our family has faced tremendous loss, of both my parents, grandparents and my sibling brothers.
We are hoping to use this networking tool to reach out to those who are able to donate to us during this difficult time.
We appreciate and thank everyone who is able to help support our family.
