Paroisse Kiganda - Lycée Kiganda
Donation protected
Hi my name is Josianne Nduwimana. I am a philanthropist and I recently won an Africa Woman Ambassador Award in the UK for excellent service to humanity. I am a Teacher in an Academy in the UK and I recently set out to give back to my motherland: Burundi. It all started when I visited a historical district where my parents were born called Kiganda. A group of women approached me with handmade beautiful baskets to sell, they then told me that the best support I could give them was to help them capitalise on their skills, and showcase their product to potential buyers. I got together with local education stakeholders, to empower these women with the information and communication technology skills they need to do it by themselves; this is how project Kiganda was born. Through a pilot phase, this project aims to promote the development of a digital space in Lycée Kiganda, to gradually introduce teachers and schools to the basic principles of digital technology. This digital space will also serve as a professional training framework for young girls and women in digital professions. We are fundraising to buy digital equipment to set up a computer hub for Lycée Kiganda.
