Partick Thistle Women's FC Charity Sleeve
Donation protected
For those of you who may not know the story surrounding the Partick Thistle’s Women’s FC this season, with just a few days’ notice they were promoted to Scottish Women’s Premier League 1 (PL1). Sadly, another team had dropped out. As PTWFC finished 3rd in league 2 last season and with the club already set up to meet the necessary criteria for PL1, they were promoted.
The girls currently sit 6th in the league, behind the top 4 from last season. A fantastic effort for a team that, to some, were considered to be "making up the numbers". We have a great squad of girls who really know what the word "team" means! They fight for every ball and never give up.
But with no time to plan finances for the promotion, PTWFC has had to find creative ways to raise money. One way is putting a charity partner on to our kit sleeve – the club gets the donation and the charity gets their profile raised. So we are asking the Thistle community to do the double – donate to keep our girls playing and give a charity’s profile a welcome boost.
The Partick Thistle Charitable Trust (PTCT) is Thistle’s charity that has strong links with the community around Maryhill and the surrounding area. The recent untimely passing of Trust Director, Paul Kelly, who was also a committee member of the women's team, led us to think that it would be a fitting tribute to make PTCT the first sleeve sponsor.
Your donation will help finance the team’s inaugural season in the top flight of women’s football in Scotland. But it will also allow us to promote the Trust, giving a real boost to their profile through media coverage, social media promotion and streaming coverage as we believe this may be the first arrangement of its kind in Scottish women’s football.
Let's all dig deep and do what we can to help. Thanks for your support!
