Pasadena Mom Facing Serious Complex Health Battle
Donation protected
Jessica Deffenbaugh is a young mother of four children facing a serious complex health battle.
Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a significant difference in their lives.
Jessica Deffenbaugh, in her early 30s and a mother of four, is a strong, fit, and energetic woman. With her expertise in professional Jiu Jitsu, training, and teaching, she opened a new Jiu Jitsu studio in Pasadena in December 2023, landing a great lease deal in an ideal location.
The family invested everything in setting up the business and studio, named 'The Lighthouse Academy,' which quickly gained momentum and bookings due to Jessica's existing strong following and client base.
However, in mid-January, Jessica began feeling ‘off’, really off. She went to the doctor.
Following a visit to USC Arcadia Hospital, which resulted in a concerning referral, she ended up in the emergency room at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on February 1st, 2024.
Shortly thereafter, a barrage of tests, several doctor consultations, and insurance complications led to a devastating preliminary diagnosis: Cancer
Having lost 15+ pounds and feeling horrible “Like she’s dying inside”, Jessica underwent delicate surgery to remove a huge swollen lymph node in her neck for further testing. Unfortunately the spinal accessory nerve was severed and has resulted in partial paralysis on Jessica’s right side from the surgery.
Can you help?Jessica urgently needs our support. The extent of the medical bills remains unknown, but the immediate concern is for her children and family.
Jessica will be unable to work regularly for at least 4-6 months, Jessica faces a catastrophic financial situation. The family is stretched thin, unable to help much with financial support.
She has given up the JiuJitsu studio. The building owner has been very understanding, and nullified her lease commitment.
This is where we, her community, step in.
Jessica has always been there for others, teaching, inspiring, and supporting. Now, she needs us. We are reaching out to ask for your help in supporting Jessica and her children during this incredibly challenging time.
Every donation will contribute towards the children's needs, and basic living situation.
We will be updating this page with progress reports.
