Pasos in Austin
Donation protected
Pasos in Austin is an extension of Pasos for Oak Cliff, which is a non-profit set up by two shoe-loving, "sneakerhead," educators - Jesse Acosta and Alejandra Zendejas. Their goal is to supply low income students with a BRAND NEW pair of shoes.
In August 2020, the Pasos team set up its first fundraiser and they were able to lace up 60 families and 110+ students in Oak Cliff. Now, in December 2020, they want to give away 300+ shoes. 100/300 shoes they want to go give to the South Austin community.
Jesse and Alejandra both graduated from the University of Texas at Austin. In their 4 years in Austin, they go to know the Austin community well. They specifically grew attached to the the South Austin community because it reminded them of their home - Oak Cliff. They noticed similar ethnic and poverty partners. Hence, they are teaming up with Antonio Salmerón (Pasos Regional Manager for Austin), a native to Austin and high school teacher at Crockett Early College High School to make this shoe drive possible!
As sneaker heads, we always make shoe contact before eye contact. A trend we have noticed between poverty and shoes is that students that come from low income homes are more likely to shoe exagereated wear and tear on their shoes. This leads discomfort, ridicule, bullying, and isolation. We can prevent that with YOUR HELP.
For every $5 that you donate you will be entered for a chance to win a pair of Yeezys or Air Jordan 1!! If YOU WIN, you will be able to choose from 1 of the shoes. The donation drive ends October 30, 2020 at 5 CT PM.
