Passing of Brother David Olopoenia

Asalam Alaykum to all NMC and Muslim members community,

Brother David Olopoenia is a member of our community, and he usually comes to the masjid with his children for Asalatu and Jummah Services. The deceased brother is a son to one of the founding members of the Nigeria Muslim Council in the USA by the name of Alhaji Dr. Lateef Olopoenia.

Unfortunately, Brother Olopoenia passed away this week at age 54 years and will be buried according to the Islamic right.

Islam teaches us that we are all family of believers and must aid one another, especially in a time like this. The NMC started a funeral fundraiser to help cover the cost of his funeral expenses. No one knows when our time will come, and not talk of the high cost of a funeral in this region, and we are reaching out to all communities for help.

Please consider donating if you can, as any amount will truly help. We need to raise $10,000 to cover the cost of funeral service.
