Khaleesi’s Passport error

Hi my name is Lucy and my daughters name is Khaleesi,

we have recently been on the news due to my daughter not being allowed a passport by the passport office.

I originally applied for her passport in June ready to book a holiday to Disneyland Paris in the August which was totalling around £1800.

I received an e-mail back from the passport office a few weeks later to say she could not have a passport as her name was trademarked and we would have to show proof that we were allowed to use this name or a letter from the company who had trademarked the name.

I called a solicitors for some free advice who told me they had never heard of this before, they looked up the trademark but it only related to goods and services and not a persons name.

I printed off this information and sent it to the passport office, a week later I had another e-mail to say they could not accept that and I would need a letter from Warner bros to say I could use that name ( the trademark was under HBO not Warner brothers) I had e-mailed HBO and Warner brothers now and not had a reply.

it is only when I asked on a local Facebook site Cirencester notice board of anyone had been in this situation and for help.

I was contacted by news outlets who offered to help and get my story out there.

a day later I had a phone call from the passport office who said they had made a mistake and the staff didn’t fully understand the process.

now I am asking for help to get us this holiday as since the delay in all of this the price of the holiday has gone from £1800 to £3200 for the cheapest hotel.

I have saved for over 2 years for this holiday working 50 hour weeks sometimes.

khaleesi’s father my husband left when she was 6 mo the old and I haven’t heard from him since so I receive no maintenance, no benefits or financial help at all.

I was also diagnosed with MS is 2021 so working in a retail shop on my feet all day is not doing good to my health but I have to do it.

I am asking for my daughter as she has never been away and I promised her a trip to Disneyland Paris but because of the delays it is no longer possible.
