Pastor Karen needs your prayers and support

Hello! I’m Janis Elliott, little sister to Rev. Karen Pollan. Karen is a mother, sister, daughter, friend, and minister. Hers is a soul that shines with kindness, beauty, gentleness, compassion, wit, and humor. My sister is a Stage 4 inflamed breast cancer survivor (1995).
2024 was her first year of retirement, and before the end of the year, she was diagnosed with Stage 4 metastasized breast cancer - it’s in every bone in her body. Her cancer treatments are palliative, not curative, and she is experiencing extreme weakness, poor balance, and some cognitive issues. She has given so much of herself in the support of her congregations, family, and community. Pastors may have jewels in their heavenly crowns, but many struggle financially in life.
I have created this GoFundMe page in the hope that Karen can enjoy her remaining time at home with everything she needs. She is currently in a rehab hospital to work on her strength and balance; her medical insurance has determined this week that they would not cover her in patient care. The furnace in her home decided last week would be a good time to break down to the tune of several thousand dollars. A number of practical modifications will be needed to keep Karen safe at home: configuring everything she’ll need on the ground floor, installing an electric chair for the staircase or preventing access to the stairs, and arranging for additional help for day-to-day upkeep of the house.
Katherine has been dutifully adulting, working with the homeowner's insurance, furnace repair, keeping track of Karen’s appointments, and working with local resources for what help they offer. Legal assistance may be needed to sort out the transfer of titles, home, and then all the end-of-life expenses. Any donation you can offer is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
