Pastor Tim Walden Medical Bills and Expenses

Donation protected
On Wednesday July 5th Pastor Tim underwent his 12 hour surgery to remove his esophageal cancerous, tumor, and had massive reconstruction of both the esophagus and stomach. Currently, he has a nasogastric tube, 2 chest drains in place and received a new stoma insertion for his Jtube feeding. He is currently off the ventilator and breathing on his own. Sister Lori indicated he is speaking quietly. The fantastic hospital staff is doing their best to minimize his pain. He is expected to be hospitalized for 6 to 10 days. We need prayer warriors praying for Pastor Tim daily as this recovery will be the most difficult part of his journey.  God please continue to watch over Tim and heal his body in your name, Amen!

On February 14, 2023, Pastor Tim Walden and his wife Lori heard the words no one wants to hear “Your Tumor is Malignant”. Their world changed instantly. Pastor Tim has a very large Stage 3 Adenosarcoma tumor in the lower one third of his esophagus, leading into his stomach. Why do Pastor Tim and his family need our financial support? In July 2022, Tim and Lori took a huge leap of faith, to plant a new church in Fairborn. Tim said the Lord had called his family back home for a purpose that was difficult for even him to understand, to set up a new church for the hurting, the lost and the forgotten in the Fairborn Community. Not just a church, but a home to bring people together in the name of God. Tim and Lori prayed and accepted the call from God. With no job, no income, no insurance, they started their new journey. Soon after, Pastor Tim got a job with Dayton Public Schools, driving a school bus to supplement his income and to have insurance for his family. After completing a few months of training, Tim started driving his own bus in November 2022. The staff and the children at DPS love having Pastor Tim as he always has a smile on his face, an encouraging word for everyone and reminds them that “God is Good and He is Blessed”. Unfortunately, because Tim was not a full-time employee with benefits until November 2022, he is not eligible for any paid disability time off until November of 2023. Pastor Tim and Lori are passionate about starting “City Church” and as a brand new church they realize that Tim would not be getting a salary until the church was financially stable. After many MRI’s, CT scans, PET scans, ultrasounds, Tim’s oncologist, radiation oncologist and surgeon have a plan. He will undergo 6 rounds of chemo and 21 days of radiation and if everything goes well, he will have surgery. Removal of the tumor along with about 2 inches of both the esophagus and stomach. He will be in the hospital for at least a week pending no complications, followed by home recovery, including home enteral nutrition (tube feedings into the small intestines), limited activity and months of rest. It is unknown if and when he will be able to return to work. Tragically he does not qualify for FMLA paid leave of any kind since he has not been with DPS for a full year. Obviously being new to his job he has already used what paid time off he had saved for numerous doctors appointments. With a high deductible insurance plan the bills are already coming in and currently Tim is hospitalized at Soin Medical Center in Beavercreek, Ohio with an infection, a complication of the chemotherapy. Sadly this hospital admission has created even more bills and has disrupted his care plan for pre-surgery radiation. Pastor Tim has maintained a positive attitude regarding his diagnosis and has been committed to driving his school bus and preaching every Sunday at City Church, he wasn’t going to let the Cancer stop him until his surgery day. However, Cancer doesn’t always go as planned. Just after two weeks of radiation/chemotherapy, Tim has lost a tremendous amount of weight and is very weak. As Tim continues to fight his battle with Cancer and the weeks of his recovery he will receive NO Income. Lori will be caretaking for Tim and working as much as she can just to pay their monthly insurance premium. They will have an extremely difficult time making ends meet for their fixed expenses, not including the many bills associated with Complex Cancer Treatment and Recovery. My name is Sandy Hayes, my husband Billy and I have lived in Fairborn all of our lives. We been friends with Pastor Tim Walden and sister Lori for over 25 years. As citizens of Fairborn Tim and Lori have had a high level of engagement in our community and have done so much to make it a better place for all of us. It is our goal to relieve Pastor Tim and Lori of their financial worries and burdens so they can focus all of their energy on Tim’s long road to recovery. Trust me when I say that neither of them are comfortable asking or accepting assistance of any kind. Billy and I sincerely appreciate ANY amount that you can donate on this GoFundme page for Medical bill and expenses that 100% will go directly to the Walden Family. Anyone who knows, Pastor Tim personally knows that he is the most selfless, compassionate, humble individual and truly lives his life according to the word of God. He is a living, breathing example of how we all should try to live our lives. I know personally I am a better person because of my relationship with Pastor Tim Walden. Give how God has blessed you, and please pray for Tim and his family. Isaiah 49: 9-10 ”…..You are my servant, I have chosen you and have not cast you away: Fear not, for I am with you: Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you. I will uphold you with my righteous right hand”. Sincerely, Billy and Sandy Hayes
