Help Pat fight Cancer

We are Gerry and Niamh, brother and niece of Pat Mcdonnell. We have decided to setup this go fund me for my brother/uncle Pat as he is currently battling Cancer for the second time.

Pat Mc Donnell , lives in Crimlin Cornamona with his wife Mary and their two young children Michael aged 9 and Chloe aged 7.

Pat received his first diagnosis of Cancer back in April 2016 in his throat. At the time Pat endured grueling chemotherapy and radiotherapy while he continued to work as a stone mason/builder during this time to provide for the family.

In December 2023 Pat began to feel unwell again and was suffering from recurrent chest infections. Pat spent a lot of time in hospital and had many medical examinations which confirmed that Pat was very unwell again. Pat and his family were given the devastating news that Pat unfortunately had Cancer for a second time, this time in his Oesophagus.

Pat and Mary both knew what was ahead of them as they had travelled this path already in 2016. Pat put on a brave face and got ready to fight again. Pat has spent many weeks in hospital receiving treatment for his cancer.

Pat and his family were dealt another painful blow in May 2024 when Pat was told that the Cancer had spread to the muscle in his stomach

Since receiving his latest diagnosis. Pat, unfortunately has not been able to begin the next round of treatment for his Cancer. This is due to the fact he had developed pneumonia 8 weeks ago and has not been strong enough to commence the long & grueling fight which lays ahead of him.

Mary, Pats Wife has been by his side throughout this battle & has fought long & hard to ensure that Pat receives the best treatment & care possible. Mary travels to Galway University Hospital everyday to be by Pats side to support him, whilst also continuing to balance being a Mother for there 2 young children.

Pat is a wonderful husband and father who ultimately wants to be strong enough to return home to be with his

family.

Hopefully with your help and support we can raise some much needed funds for Pat and his family which can be used for Pats treatment, medical expenses and any other expenses/struggles they may meet along the long journey they will face together.
