Pat Collins

I am reaching out to friends and family to help support Pat Collins, one of the kindest and most generous women I’ve been blessed to know. We met the Collins family through church and they have been an important part of our lives ever since! Pat lost her long-time husband, co-breadwinner, and Former Marine, Randy, in June 2020. Then, just as Pat was successfully adjusting to this new life, and financial reality, she was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma just after Thanksgiving last year. This had every possibility of being a devastating setback to her efforts to provide for herself, and her family. Positively, she recently received a stem cell transplant at MUSC and we are hopeful that this will give her many years of remission! Unfortunately, this procedure wiped out her entire immune system leaving her completely vulnerable to infection. She and a caretaker had to live near the hospital for 2 months at the family's expense. Pat also had to undergo extensive dental work to eliminate additional risk of infection prior to the transplant. She will have to stay close to home for at least the next year as she rebuilds her immune system. Any help to defray these unexpected expenses and prolonged unemployment for this unbelievably caring, and wonderful woman are greatly appreciated.
