I’m running as hard as I can for a seat on the Board of Commissioners in Henderson County, NC. These men (for the time being) have the most impact on the daily lives of our residents -- both citizens and others. For the past few years, I’ve watched as they’ve made one poor decision after another -- not strategic, not inclusive, and sometimes not very ethical -- wasting our valuable tax dollars along the way. Early this spring, I said, “Enough is enough,” and threw my hat in the ring!
The people who will benefit from me being on the commission are our middle class and struggling working class friends, neighbors, and family members. We need to put an end to the "same old, same old."
Donations to my campaign will be used very carefully to fund efforts to spread my name and message across this lovely county in Western North Carolina so we can return to democratic values and truly serve the people. Funds are needed right away. The election is November 6!
Teddy Roosevelt said it well (although he apparently didn’t know about strong women) when he wrote this now famous -- and here slightly edited -- passage in a speech:
"It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the woman who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; but who does actually strive to do the deeds; who knows great enthusiasms, the great devotions; who spends herself in a worthy cause; who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if she fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that her place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat."
