Path to the Plan

First I want to take the time to thank everyone who donated to my previous campaign. It helped me in a time of transition after losing my home of nearly 23 years. As most of you who follow my journey through my YouTube channel know, I still have not found a new place to call home. What you all have so graciously helped me with so far has enabled me to get and remain in the hotel room that my daughter and I have been in since May 19th when everything happened. I have never been homeless before so I had no idea how few and far between the actual resources are for those that fall on hard times and find themselves in a situation such as this one.

What makes my situation a bit more challenging than most is the fact that I have been a self-employed/Freelance worker for more than a decade. This obviously didn’t take care of everything financially, but until the accident that I was in a little over five years ago (making me unable to work a regular job that requires any strenuous labor or standing longer than a half hour), and subsequently COVID, it had allowed me to stay afloat. The thing about trying to rent an apartment when you are self-employed and disabled is that they don’t view it as actually having income and I am still waiting for my disability application to finish being processed. In addition to that, where I live, they are supposed to have programs that help people find housing specifically for low-income earners or at the very least provide housing vouchers that can then be used in an extended stay at a hotel. Both of which I have found to not be the case.

I have come up with a plan for how to perhaps get around some of those boundaries that have been set but it will take some time for everything to come together. In the meantime, I am still going to need to remain here at the hotel for at least another two months or so. The one where we are located is the cheapest one in this area that can provide us with the necessary sense of safety and I have signed up for the membership program to receive rewards and points to try and make it even cheaper. It is roughly $600 a week to stay here and that is the cheapest option in this area. In addition to that we still also need to eat. Anything you can help me with to achieve the longer-term plan would be greatly appreciated. If you are unable to help me, I completely understand and also welcome all positive vibes and prayers as well. Thank you for all of your support thus far and continued support going forward as my daughter and I weather through this storm.
