Hope for La Gonave, Haiti
" Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much." - Helen Keller
Our community outreach and donation distribution in December was a success! Thanks to all that has supported us thus far. However, there is still much work to be done.
After spending some time with the people of La Gonave, you discover their gratitude for the simple things in life. Nonetheless, the battle within is the understanding that giving donations is great BUT after while, we will create a welfare system and foster a dependency mindset if that is our only mission. Jobs and more opportuntities that will create revenue is their greatest need in order to be self sustaining and break the cycle of poverty.
Pathway to Hope mission is to build partnerships that will help create a supporting avenue for ongoing resources, paying workforces, empowering community leaders and strengthening education. In a nutshell, our goal is to empower, strengthen and foster a self sustain community. Through your support, this budget will help in our efforts to build and establish a community closet, food pantry and work program with FOREVER316. This initiative will serve as a pillar of hope to this isolated island. It is our goal to advance this work program to be ran and sustained by the Haitian community through employment.
Our partnership with a retail company known as FOREVER316 will provide job training and work opportunity. Project budget to fund supplies and training materials is $1,800
