A Plea from the Heart:
We urgently need your help to save the life of a remarkable woman, Patience Govere. She is more than just a beloved member of our community in Zimbabwe; she is a beacon of love, compassion, and selflessness. Patience is battling Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD), a cruel genetic condition that has already taken the lives of her father and younger brother and has deeply affected me, her older sister.
I also have PKD but was lucky to get a transplant in the UK where my donor and I on the National Health Service (NHS). My sister does not have the NHS in Zimbabwe.
Patient’s struggle:
Despite these overwhelming challenges, Patience has always put others first. Her health has now declined drastically, and she faces a critical need for a kidney transplant. There is hope: a compatible kidney donor has stepped forward, and a medical team in India is ready to perform the transplant. But we need your help to make this possible.
The Urgent Need:
Time is running out, and without this transplant, Patience’s future is not looking good in the state that she is in.
We are aiming to raise a total of US$26,000 (approx £21,000)to cover:
- Pre-transplant tests: US$2,000
- Transplant operation: US$15,000
- Hospital aftercare: US$4,000
- Travel expenses for Patience Govere and her donor: US$3,000
- Contingency: US$2,000
