Who this will help
The Lubrich / Webster family in their fight to bring their loving Nana back to good health. Patricia aka Nana is a loving mom, grandma, and wife. Her beautiful grand babies - Holden (3yo) and Everly (4wks) - adore her and are eager to be in her care again. Her husband Mike is a more than full time worker in fine cabinetry. Her only daughter Jodi (our best friend) and son-in-law Liam, are her devoted support system.
Why I'm fundraising
In early November, as Jodi was in the end phases of labor with her second child, her mother, Patricia, became suddenly and extremely ill. Patricia called her husband Mike home from work to care for their grandson Holden (who she was watching at the time) and she was soon-thereafter rushed to the hospital where it was identified that an abdominal aorta aneurysm had ruptured. Fortunately, her life was saved, but after two emergency surgeries and many days in the ICU, she was left without any feeling in her feet, limited function from the waist down and unable to walk. Patricia has not yet been home-- recovering since then in the hospital and in a rehabilitation center. She has reached the limit of time they will keep her at the rehab center and is being sent home to the care of her loved ones, still unable to walk or feel her feet, needing tons of ongoing medical support for an indeterminate amount of time.
Patricia's loving husband, Mike, works more than full-time hours outside of the home. The family made the strategic decision to temporarily move Patricia into Jodi and Liam's home during her recovery. While she will still need the support of a home health aide, it will be lessened by Jodi and Liam being home and available for hours beyond what Mike could have supported. This will also keep Patricia close to her grandbabies which will be the absolute best medicine in her recovery.
Patricia's daughter is our dear friend (that we consider family), Jodi. Our gracious and caring Jodi has gone through a very long and traumatic fertility journey full of loss and pain before the welcoming of beautiful Everly. In tandem with her fertility journey, the design firm that she spent decades growing and thriving with, as a lead creative, was suddenly sold. Through that process, Jodi ultimately lost her job during pregnancy with beautiful baby girl Everly. Our friend is passionate, creative, and dynamic-- so she rose to the challenge as she always does, by almost immediately launching her own business. She continues to amaze us as she rises to every twist and turn of quickly building that business up each day. However, having to do so on the fly lost her the chance to have any semblance of normal / proper maternity leave. So, Jodi and her husband Liam, had very strategically mapped out his time off and her lack there of. They planned to have Patricia care for their toddler, as she already happily had been, and support with caring for newborn Everly, while Jodi took crucial work meetings and continued to build her new business. Now, all of that has been turned on its head and Jodi and Liam have even more on their plate: leading the restoration of Nana's health. More than anyone, Jodi deserves a peaceful, healing time welcoming her new baby. Her husband Liam, is one of the most hardworking hearts-of-gold, an incredible parent to his children, and generally one of the best humans we know. Jodi and Liam continue to astound us with their resiliency and ability to pivot with life's new challenges. We have no doubt that they can and will do anything for the people they love, especially Nana. What we would love is to be able to help take a fraction of the financial burden associated with this experience off of their shoulders and to bring some small relief in what is an overwhelmingly stressful, traumatic, and anxiety-ridden time.
Patricia is a devoted Nana who like so many grandparents acts as a caretaker in her family. She wants desperately to be back helping with her grandkids. She is working to regain the ability to walk while also learning how to navigate in a wheelchair. Unfortunately, the insurance covering her needs is limited and Jodi and Liam will be responsible for much of the retro-fitting of their home to accommodate wheelchair access as well as the bills for full-time home health aides, physical & occupational therapists that are critical to Patricia functioning. The family cannot afford all of these expenses and have already begun absorbing significant debt to accommodate the healthcare needed to save her and now the care needed to get her better.
The impact of your support
Your support will help pay for everything from hospital & doctors bills, medical equipment needed for the home, certified healthcare home aides, physical & occupational therapists, prescriptions, healthcare supplies, medical transportation to and from doctor appointments and so much more. It will help Holden and Everly’s Nana learn to walk again. It will allow the family the peace-of-mind to know that they are doing everything they can to help Patricia. And it will also help our resilient and incredible friends, Jodi and Liam, to see that we all appreciate just how amazing they are and share back some of the kindness they've extended to the world-- especially to the people they love.
It would also mean a lot if you could share our fundraiser link on social media. The more exposure, the better chance we will reach our fundraising goal.
