I am creating this GoFundMe for my best friend Patty Newland. She is more like my sister! We met in college in 1993 & she introduced me to my husband & we have been friends ever since! We have watched each others kids grow up and now our grand-kids. We have been through the good and the bad things in life. She is a wonderful, caring friend who really knows no strangers & would do anything for anybody!
Patty was involved in a horrific car accident in Pickaway County on June 12th in which her boyfriend Matt tragically lost his life. He was only 46! Patty had to be trached on the scene because every bone in her face was broken. She was then care flighted to Grant Medical Center in Columbus where she was placed on a ventilator and later on that night she had emergency surgery for internal injuries. The next day she had to have a feeding tube placed and she had surgery on her left arm, in which they put plates in her whole arm and then put it in a cast. She broke her right foot so they had to put a plate in it also. She had surgery on her head because a broken bone in her forehead was laying on her brain (sorry for the graphic details but I feel its important to share what all she has been through).  They had to wire her jaw shut and she was on dialysis for a short time due to her kidneys shutting down. She spent a month in and out of the ICU at Grant before being transferred to Ohio State. She spent a month there & during that time she was weaned off the ventilator & trach and had the feeding tube removed. She is currently in a rehab facility for physical therapy.  By the grace of God I believe she will be walking on her own again soon!
She finally got the cast off her arm last week. The drs told her that she won't regain full use of it for up to a year (keep in my mind that she is left handed) . She possibly wont be able to return to work for many, many months. Her tentative release date from rehab is Sept 3rd which is the same day she gets her last short term disability check and she isn't eligible for long term disability until December!! Her dr bills have already started rolling in (the bill JUST from the night of the accident is $421,000!! YES, you are reading that right!!). She has retained a lawyer to help get her medical bills taken care of but that could take a long time.  In the meantime, of course, she still has bills to pay so she has a home to go home to when she gets out. If you can help in any way I know Patty would appreciate it VERY much and I also appreciate it!!
Please continue to pray for her complete healing and that she finds some sort of peace in dealing with what she has been through! She lost her first husband, Tom, in 2014. They were together for 28 years prior to his passing. She never thought she would get another chance at happiness but she did with Matt. Unfortunately she has lost him too. My heart breaks for her! She is the strongest, most determined person I know!!! She still has a long road ahead of her to get back to normal, or close to normal as possible! The doctors at Grant Medical Center told her that she is a miracle and I surely believe that will all of my heart!! She definitely had a guardian angel or 2 with her the night of the accident!!
Thank you to everyone that has prayed for her since the accident!! Keep the prayers coming!!!
Thank you in advance for anyone who donates to help Patty out!!
