In Memory of Patricia Petz-Jeffries

It is with great sorrow that we announce that on Friday May 4th, Patricia Petz-Jeffries departed this world. Anyone who knew my mother knew that Pat was the kindest and most giving person. Despite battling Behçet's disease for the past twenty years, numerous hospitalizations, a debilitating back injury, and two strokes, her primary concern was always serving others. As a nurse in the Michigan community for forty-plus years, she was fiercely committed to her patients. When her own physical decline prohibited her from continuing working in ICU units, she moved on to care management, where she could help provide long-term support for families. Even in her final months and days following her stroke in January, her concerns were not about herself but about her family and others.



Unfortunately, on top of dealing with the loss of Pat, my father is also facing mounting expenses related to Pat’s illness and passing. In addition to medical bills not covered by insurance, we must bring in outside help to assist with the process of sorting through Pat’s possessions and financial affairs. These costs are still undetermined, and the Jeffries family will donate any excess funds raised to the Academy of the Sacred Heart. It is our hope that the legacy of Pat will not only live on in our memories and in our actions, but also through the gift of education to others.
