My family has been pretty private about my sister Patti’s fight against breast cancer. Patti was diagnosed almost 2 years ago, has undergone chemotherapy and a mastectomy. We were hopeful she beat her cancer. Patti became very ill in August of this year, very short of breath and went into the hospital near her home in New Jersey. Our family felt she needed a second opinion and begged her to come back to Syracuse and receive cancer treatment at Upstate; which she did arriving to her daughter Nicole’s home near the end of September. Needless to say the oncology department at Upstate did all they could to aggressively treat her cancer and it hurts my heart to say she just was too weak to fight the cancer that has spread throughout her body and the family is looking into Hospice care for her; either at home or in a Hospice home. My niece Nicole and my nephew, Justin have decided that she should not suffer any longer. Nicole is asking her employer for paid family medical leave to care for her mother who is terminally ill. My original reason for creating this Go Fund Me was to help with medical bills and equipment, however the money raised will assist with the cost of funeral arrangements when my sister Patti transitions to the other side to be free from her cancer and her pain. Whatever help we can get will be very appreciated and we cannot thank you enough for assisting by donating or sharing this post.
