Patrick Hatten

Patrick Hatten passed away on January 6, 2024. Those who knew Pat knew a man of absurd intelligence. His curiosity had no bounds - he was a wrestler, an early supporter of the 60s San Antonio music scene, worked in movie and theater production, did property tax appraisals by bicycle and finally followed his dream of following in his father's footsteps, flying with the Texas Air National Guard. Once he relocated to Austin he followed those same passions while exploring geology, paleontology and especially archeology. He was a longtime member of the Texas, Llano Uplift and Travis County archeological societies. Pat was an OG of the Hole in the Wall in Austin, and often claimed credit for the establishment of Shiner Bock in the Austin scene. Pat was one of the fiercest and most dedicated parents I've known for his daughter Gwendolyn.

Gwen has scheduled a May 2024 rembrance at The Hole in the Wall, 2538 Guadalupe, Austin, 3-6 PM, date still TBD, but looking like the 25th. In order to recognize his Irish heritage and musical interests we are hoping to hire a band for a set of Celtic tunes. The GFM funds are for the band and perhaps a few incidentals, such as raising a glass of Guiness, Jamesons, Baileys or your favorite single malt.
