Patrick Marzella Eagle Scout Project - Somers 228
Donation protected
Dear Friends and Family,
My name is Patrick Marzella. I am a Life Scout in Somers Boy Scout Troop 228. I am currently working to raise money for my Eagle Scout Project which will repair and extend a produce garden at the Wright Reis Homestead in Somers, NY. This Eagle Scout project will repair the garden that was damaged by recent storms and laid dormant during the 2020 pandemic.
I will be
- extending the garden structure by 6 feet
- creating 2 additional garden beds
- replacing the garden’s wooden rails and adding wire deer fencing
-making a second entrance for easy watering access.
-designing a new wrought iron gate for the new entrance
-adding new soil to the garden’s beds
-spreading new mulch to the garden’s pathways
-extending the existing wrought iron gate
This project will provide a well-groomed garden for local Girl Scout Troop 1457 to begin planting vegetables this Spring. All produce grown in this garden will be donated to the St. Luke’s food pantry in Somers, NY.
I am hoping to raise $2,000.00 in donations to cover the costs associated with my project that will begin in April. My Eagle Scout project requires me to manage a project, raise funds, recruit volunteers, acquire the materials and act as the leader of the project. Due to Covid-19, many limitations have been placed on how to raise funds for my project. Therefore, I am reaching out to my friends and family to support me in raising the funds needed for this project. Any funds remaining at the end of my project will be donated to the Somers Food Pantry at St. Luke’s Church.
Your support is greatly appreciated!
Below you will find photos of the existing garden that will be the main focus of my project.
Thank You,
Patrick Marzella
