Early morning Wednesday Sept. 20th Patrick suffered a major medical event and was rushed by ambulance to Resolute Hospital where we learned due to his past medical history the most they could do was keep him stable but in no way were they equipped to treat. Shortly after he was loaded back into an ambulance transferring us to University Hospital in San Antonio. While in ICU for continued evaluation on Sunday Patrick suffered a cardiac event, after defibrillation and CPR he is still with us. This event caused concern with his medical team and more tests and procedures took place over the next couple days. Due to his most recent procedure blood culture tests were ordered and it was found he had a bacterial infection in his heart. While he is doing great with the rounds of antibiotics and feeling stronger our biggest fear has come. Tomorrow morning Monday, Oct. 2nd, Patrick will under-go open heart surgery to replace the infective growth and replace the aortic valve and the replaced portion of his aorta with donor tissue.

While we have the best medical team and I am eternally grateful for them saving his life and the around-the-clock work of his doctors and nurses we have a long road to recovery ahead of us.

I understand times are difficult for everyone right now we find ourselves in a predicament financially. While my job has been fantastic in giving me the time to be here every step of the way and the flexibility to continue working wherever we are. A tattoo artist is not being paid if he is not working and without insurance(like many self-employed individuals) we are facing the mountain.

All I ask for now is continued prayers and support for our family. While I know the promise of provision God has for us, the unknown we are walking into is scary when I look at my planner and know I don’t make enough on my own.
