Patrick Scott's Fight With Cancer

Donation protected
To my Family, Friends, and strangers.

Hello everyone, I want to thank you for your prayers and words of encouragement. They are important to me, my husband, and my 13 year old son Tyler. They keep us going every day, however, we have a financial need and this is why I am reaching out for your help.

My name is Darla Scott. Around May of 2021 my husband went to the doctor for an annual check-up. His PSA was elevated @4.2. The doctor said let’s keep an eye on it. 4 months later I asked him to go back and get it checked again. He did and found his PSA to be 10.2. Patrick did some research and was confident it was a false negative. The doctor wanted to perform a biopsy. My husband had requested an MRI before a biopsy. The first week of October he had the MRI. The MRI did show concerns and a biopsy was scheduled the next week. In the meantime we were packing up due to a job transfer from Texas to Mississippi. On October 25th, 2021 Patrick received a phone call from his doctor in Texas. He was at Lowes (we had just arrived in MS) picking up a few items we needed for the new place. This is what Patrick said to me after the phone call, ”I was very confident the news was going to be good. The doctor said, “Mr. Scott, I’m sorry to tell you that the biopsy came back positive for Prostate Cancer.” He sat down in the Lowes in disbelief. As the doctor explained to him his level of cancer and the options that were available to treat the cancer, he was beside myself. He had no symptoms & has always taken care of himself.

Patrick and I have been married for 21 years, we have 5 daughters all grown up. We have our 13 year old son Tyler, 7 grandchildren, and 1 great grandson. Patrick has worked hard taking care of us. As a stay home mom and teacher to our 13 year old son, he is the sole financial provider for our household.

Patrick continues to work-out and focus on his health. He is a fighter. He is accepting this diagnosis and moving forward. We are making preparations for treatment. While dealing with this life change impact on our family we ask for your help to remove some of the financial burden we foresee.

If you would like to help our family with a donation, we would be grateful for this. Small or otherwise every donation will help. It will be a blessing to us and a pressure relief valve while we focus on Patrick’s recovery both physically and mentally. The funds will help with his deductible, the out of pocket medical bills and our household expenses. We anticipate Patrick being on FMLA for at least 8 weeks. If you find yourself not able to donate, spread the news to your family, friends, and acquaintances. But please keep the prayers and encouragement coming. Letting him know you are thinking about him will be important for his overall recovery. I will keep you informed of the treatment he has elected and his recovery on a weekly basis.

Thank you all for your love and support.
