My name is Marybeth Zahorchak. Our son Patrick (age 28) lives with us, was born blind and now suffers from severe disabilities requiring him to be transported in a wheelchair. Currently, we physically carry him from his chair to our vehicle. Our family moved to Pittsburgh so that Patrick could attend the School for the Blind. The pandemic shut his school and his routine down. I stayed home to care for him and began saving for a wheelchair van right after restrictions were lifted. I am working super hard to pay for an accessible handicapped van that can safely and comfortably transport him. Pricing for special-needs transportation is astronomical, but I have slowly saved up $9,000!
