Paul Baldwin's Cancer Journey

Many of you have been following Paul’s cancer journey since his original diagnosis in October 2020. Coach Baldwin had his stomach removed in Spring 2021 and received chemo treatments through the end of Fall 2021. Paul has been working with a specialized group of doctors locally and at UVA so that he would receive the best treatment and care.
Coach Baldwin has been in the peaks and valleys of this cancer journey, and unfortunately, since the beginning of 2022, his battle has only gotten harder. Between the end of March through April, Paul was in the hospital at UVA on and off for days at a time. Coach Baldwin recently had another surgery in April. Due to the extent of the surgery, Paul is no longer able to work. During surgery, the discovery was also made that his cancer had spread. Colon surgery has provided some stability to relieve the blockage but not an attempt to remove any cancer. Once cancer reoccurs in another area of the body the diagnosis is upgraded to stage IV. Paul’s body is still fighting off infection and recovering, and he is managing his pain one day at a time. Until these battles can be resolved, then any possible treatment will be on hold.
Many have asked how they can help support Paul during this time. Coach Baldwin’s financial stress is high. His medical bills have become overwhelming due to bills that are absorbing his monthly living allowance. In addition, Paul will be traveling back and forth to UVA for medical appointments, which will be costly in travel. Paul has applied for disability and Medicaid, but these processes take time and regular several months of waiting before any payments can be made.
Anyone donating $100 or more will receive a print of Paul's "Healing Hand" sketch. Please share the address you'd like it mailed too
