Paul Coady, Manager of CRE (Counselors of Real Estate) Services is retiring 12/31/2023, after 24 years of service to our CRE family. Paul joined the CRE staff as an Administrative Assistant in 1999, and has been an exceptional team member during his tenure.
Paul’s Role and 24-year Trajectory
Paul’s tenure with The Counselors has included a wide-ranging list of responsibilities to which
he has always applied a strong, consistent work ethic and an unfailing “Can Do” attitude.
Perhaps Paul’s most significant area of focus has been his oversight and stewardship of The
Counselors’ 27 Chapters, including (yet not limited to) orchestrating and participating in bi-
monthly Zoom Calls of Chapter Leaders, handling required, annual filings for each Chapter with
the IRS, and assisting in the organization and promotion of meetings and events at the local
level. One of Paul’s most valued contributions has been drafting and circulating the
organization’s weekly “Calls for Expertise” (ranked among the top benefits of CRE
membership). Paul’s technological skills are vast and constantly expanding as new platforms
and applications are introduced. Paul does not wait to be taught or pushed into embracing new
technologies. Rather he invariably takes the initiative to learn, without prompting from others: a
tremendous benefit to members and staff alike. Never was this more evident than in the years
2021 and 2022, when the COVID Pandemic forced businesses and their employees to operate
remotely: a necessity for which The Counselors of Real Estate was unprepared – yet which, with
the benefit of hindsight, turned out to be a true game changer for the CRE organization, making
it considerably easier, and less time consuming and expensive for CREs to become active in the
organization, utilizing Zoom and other virtual platforms. Paul was instrumental “Behind the
Scenes,” seamlessly applying new internet capability to virtually everything The Counselors
does as an organization: Presentation of CRE Podcasts and our “What’s Next” monthly Webinar
Series; Annual Dues Collection, Meeting Registration etc. (the list goes on and on). In 2016,
Paul took the lead with our current CRE Global Chair, Bill McCarthy, in developing and
promoting The Counselors’ Planned Giving Program through which CREs pledge a certain
portion of their estate to The Counselors of Real Estate®.
Customer Service
A particularly notable skillset Paul has unfailingly provided CREs over the years is his
unmatched talent in the area of Customer Service. No question goes unanswered. No request is
too difficult. No problem cannot be solved. Quite simply, if Paul doesn’t know the answer, he makes it a personal mission to find it. During CRE Staff Meetings, Paul can always be counted upon to suggest a fresh approach to a difficult situation or outmoded procedure. Fun Facts On the more personal side, a requirement contained in Paul’s official job description includes the
phrase: “Other Duties as Assigned(!)” for which he has endured the good humored teasing of his office colleagues – always, I might add, with a grin. He is also known for purchasing a “Suit in a Box” which he wore to several CRE functions, fitting him amazingly well! Finally, in
addition to his wife, Kathy, Paul, in his off hours, pursues two major passions: playing guitar
and performing as lead singer in his band: Paul Coady and the Edsel Brothers and his weekly
game of basketball which he plays with long term friends (several from his high school days). Added to these interests going forward will be Travel: far and wide Paul’s final day in the office will be December 29, 2023.
Please help us reach our goal, so Paul and Kathy may fulfill their retirement dreams of travel!
