Paul Newman Liverpool South Parkway Cat
Donation protected
Hi my name is Steff. I'm raising money in order to erect a statue in memory of Paul the cat.
Paul was a much loved Bengal cat who spent most of his time running Liverpool South Parkway Station. He greeted commuters, brought wanted and unwanted presents for staff, patrolled platforms keeping staff company and generally saw that everything in the station ran smoothly. His work was recognise and he was given the title of "Chief of Customer Relations".
He brought happiness to thousands, not only brightening dreary work days with his antics but also helping those who had difficulty navigating and dealing with a busy station. His impact was not just restricted to the station as his Facebook page brought smiles to people as far away as Australia and Japan.
Paul often got into scrapes and often made headline news particularly when he was stuck on the roof of the station.
When he died on 21st January 2023 I was touched by the out pouring of love for him.
Liverpool South Parkway Station feels empty without him and a statue, while not replacing him, would bring some of the happiness he brought back. A reminder of him and also the importance of animals in our busy lives.
The statue will stand by the ticket barrier, where he loved to sit, and will consist of a life size statue of him on a plinth in the form of a ticket barrier.
