Paul Picone Recovery Fund
Donation protected
Hi, Paul Picone, (husband, son, brother, and uncle) went on a bike ride on November 10, 2021. He would have never imagined this would be the last day he would WALK out of his house. Paul was about 10 houses away from home when he was hit by a car. He was transported to a local hospital and then airlifted to a trauma center. His family was told Paul broke his neck. He had emergency surgery to repair the damage to C5, C6, and C7. Unfortunately, the damage he sustained was enough to paralyze him from the chest down.
Paul was in ICU for 3 1/2 weeks with little hope of recovering. He was finally air flighted to Shepherd Center in Atlanta where he and his wife Sharon stayed for over 3 months. Paul spent 2 months doing extensive physical and occupational therapies trying to regain strength and learn to live with his injuries. After 2 excruciating months of ups and downs (lots of downs), and some doubt from the staff, he graduated to the "day program". Paul and Sharon spent 6 weeks in an apartment where Paul wheeled himself over to his therapies on a daily basis and learned to live on their own in an ADA apartment.
On March 19, we picked up Paul and Sharon and took the long car ride home to Leesburg, Florida. They are learning and trying to live with their new normal, but as you can only imagine, their world has been rocked. Paul had to close down his business and Sharon has been taking care of him while keeping a full-time job. They need to purchase a van that can accommodate the wheelchair and continue therapy so he can have any chance there is to walk again. The insurance for therapy has been exhausted and that is why we are asking for donations.
Paul would like to continue with as much therapy as he can, but there is a high cost to it. All donations will go towards his recovery and the therapy it takes to get Paul walking again. We believe he has a chance to recover and he definitely has the drive and determination to do it.
Any donations to Paul's recovery will be greatly appreciated. God Bless.
