Paul Ramos' Emergency Bushfire Vet Fund

"Australia is on fire.  My country is on fire.  They say over a billion animals have died and it's getting worse.  And I could actually do something about it."

These are the words my brother Paul said to me in frustration one morning during his visit over the holidays.  He is right about all of it, but what struck me most were his last words.  ...I could actually do something about it.

You see Paul isn't just your normal average annoying little brother.  He's a bonafide Wildlife vet, trained in Australia where he helped lead veterinary bushfire response training for Victoria, the state where the 'megafire' that is ravaging the country now rages.

He kick-started seminars, webinars and new protocols as the bushfire response plan manager for the largest & busiest animal hospital in the country and provided veterinary care as a Melbourne Zoo vet for the most iconic as well as lesser known but amazing species of that country such as kangaroos, koalas, possums and yes even snakes & crocodiles.

For a long time as a Wildlife vet, Paul has worked on incredibly important things that he cared about, but like any vet he has been humble and quiet......But now...It's the time for everyone to care....the world is watching Australia suffer.  He feels this strong urge to put his expertise to use RIGHT NOW...to save the precious wildlife in Victoria and NSW......

WHAT'S NEEDED
Triage centres (where vital initial treatment occurs) are being set up to look after injured animals - however actual wildlife vets with experience in caring for native Australian wildlife are few and far between.

As a vet who worked and conducted his residency at Zoos Victoria, the CALL TO ACTION is now and he must head to Australia and help the animals affected by the bushfires, using the unique Australian wildlife medicine skills acquired over the years.  As a wildlife vet at the triage centres on the front lines of these bushfire wars, he can actually make a difference.

At these specialized triage centres, he can make sure the Bushfire victims get the best care possible, help train other vets to be more confident when it comes to wildlife medicine.
He can also hand-deliver thousands of dollars of crucial medical donations to these makeshift hospitals, thanks to the generosity of key veterinary pharmaceutical companies and people in the UK.

PLEASE HELP THE WILDLIFE IN AUSTRALIA

To volunteer as a Wildlife vet during these horrible fires, Paul needs to leave his family and travel to Australia from the U.K.... he needs flights, basic transportation, accommodation and logistical costs.  I told him I would have a go at setting up a Go Fund Me page for the $4500 to make this project happen.

Let's send this much needed Wildlife vet to Australia to HELP during these devastating fires.  Let's join the fight to save Australia's Wildlife.

If you would like to know more about Paul's expertise you can find his description at his LinkedIn and to see his most recent project check out Project Pongo .
