Paul Sackett's liver transplant, Road to recovery

At 4:00 am the morning of January 28, 2021, Paul and Michelle Sackett received the phone call they have long waited for.  University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor had a donor liver for Paul!  They quickly gathered their belongings, warmed up the car and headed south for the long three hour drive to Ann Arbor.  The life saving surgery was scheduled for that afternoon.   Since Paul's transplant on the 28th, he has been in ICU receiving the best of care.  Although his progress has been up and down,  the doctors are very optimistic.  Michelle has been close by , getting regular updates and recently has been able to video chat with Paul.  After Paul is released from the hospital he will need to see his transplant team twice a week for a month, then once a week with fewer visits as his recovery progresses.  This Journey has been a  great financial strain on Paul, Michelle and their family.  Thank you all for your continued love, prayers and support.  It has been a blessing.  I am asking those that can donate, please do so . Pauls Journey:
May of 2019 Paul was hospitalized with internal bleeding.  After several tests and and hospital stays Paul was diagnosed in June of 2019 with PSC cirrhosis of the liver.  Several friends and family volunteered to be tested as potential live donors but unfortunately, the donor volunteers either exceeded the age limit of 55 or were not a medical match.  They continued to hold onto hope.  October 2019 Paul was taken off work at a job that he would have had 30 years seniority in December of 2020 and he has exhausted his sick and accident benefits.  In June of 2020 he was officially put on the transplant list. To compound their struggles, Michelle has since been diagnosed with MS.   Through their health challenges, their positivity, hope and love for one another has remained strong.
