Paul Sterczek :: Medical Expenses

Hello friends of Paul,

As you may or may not know, Paul has been dealing with an aggressive Prostate Cancer for the last year. Beginning with a crushing bladder failure, eventual radical prostatectomy, and then followed up by 48 consecutive radiation treatments. He is now on Hormone Therapy and an extremely expensive daily dose of XTANDI to keep his cancer under control.

And now, Paul is faced with an expensive reconstruction surgery for his jaw bone, dealing with Osteonecrosis of the Jaw ( ONJ ) and Trismus . Ironically, these are both side effects of the intense radiation he received 15 years for Stage 4 cancer on his tonsil. While Paul beat that cancer with his usual good humor, the lasting side effects are too many to list. The treatments have affected his ability to eat comfortably and there is a very real danger his jawbone will break at the slightest pressure.

Paul is a self-employed Interior Designer and has lost a lot of time and work over the past year, only to be out of commission another 3 months for this new surgery. He is expected to be in the OR on May 8th for 12 hours with a team of 4 surgeons with an expected ICU/hospital recovery of 2 weeks.

Unfortunately, some of this is not covered: out of pocket fees, surgeon fees, travel, life expenses, all have taken a toll on his ability to pay for all of this. We are asking for help for our friend to get through this rough spot. ANYTHING you can share would be greatly appreciated.
