Help Bring Paula Home to Her Final Resting Place

It is with deep sorrow that I share the sad news that my dear friend Paula (Spencer) Browning has passed away.
Paula was an interpreter for NCOD for many years until she moved to Ocean Springs, Mississippi, about 10 years ago. For many of those years she continued to interpret: VRS, community, education, etc. She continued to be involved in many interpreting organizations in the south, and was a sought after presenter. We last had her present at Pierce College, about 6-7 years ago.
She was a firecracker who LOVED the Deaf community. It is the Deaf community in San Diego that raised her up to be such a wonderful interpreter.
I had met Paula in San Diego, before she moved to the valley around 1976. After she moved up to the valley we became closer friends and interpreting colleagues, both at Pierce College and CSUN.
After her move to Mississipp, I had remained in touch with her and one of her daughter's, Anaiah Shehori. In 2013, while we're at the 2013 RID Conference in Indiana, Paula had her first heart attack. She didn't realize it was a heart attack until after she returned home to Ocean Springs, and had to have emergency bypass surgery. Almost two years ago Paula had several small heart attacks which caused blood clots leading to mini-strokes. This partially paralyzed her left leg, which hampered her ability to drive, and to continue working as an interpreter. Her Congestive Heart Failure, as well as other conditions, including Fibromyalgia, took its toll on her. We are told she died in her sleep. Once the COVID situation is over, there will be a beachside memorial, because Paula loved the beach so much. I loved Paula dearly, and even though I know she is at peace, I will miss her forever.
Paula's daughter, Anaiah, needs help in taking care of her mom's possessions in Mississippi and planning for her final resting place. First, she will be cremated and returned to California. For all that is involved Anaiah greatly needs financial assistance. If you could help in any way, it would be a wonderful blessing and greatly appreciated.
