Paul’s GoFundMe

Hello Everyone,
Please join us in spreading Awareness for Aplastic Anemia.
Paul is my 15 year old son and we are from Fayetteville, North Carolina.
He loves spending time with his 4 brothers (ages Deonte 23,Elijah 20,Isaac12,Isaiah12) two nieces (I’Lanie 2yrs old and Faith 3 months) he also enjoys playing Basketball, Football, Rapping, Singing, Writing, Producing and Making beats for himself and other like minded Artists, Playing variety of instruments. His most current instruments are Bass Guitar and Tuba at his local High School Douglas Byrd Senior High School where he is also a Drum Major as well.
Sadly, all of the normal teenage things has been taken away from him this year as he has been just diagnosed with Severe Aplastic Anemia.
Paul cannot attend the rest of his 10th grade year, he could not go attend the Marching Band Regiment programs or Make a Guest Performance at our local “Stop The Violence” big event as he had planned.

Homecoming, Band activities and Family vacations, celebrating holidays with family like Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year aren’t in our plans right now.

As of today 12/21/22 Paul have been admitted at Duke University Children’s Hospital Durham, North Carolina for 80 days, we are looking forward to being able to go home soon to be with the rest of our Family.
Although, he will need to be at Duke’s Children Hospital for 3-4 days per week for blood and platelet transfusions.
We are currently waiting to complete the Bone Marrow Transplant Process. We have already processed the (HLA) matching for his closer matching donor, which is me his Mother (So Grateful)
This also means I will be out of work longer myself because I stay by my son side here at the hospital.

Mean While, we are currently in ICU fighting a few Blood infection, Paul is recovering from 5 surgeries due to infection located in his stomach that went into his blood stream, which is hard for Paul to fight it off due to him not having white blood cells.

We have just started the process for his 20 year old brother Elijah to be his white blood cells (granulocyte) donor!
Elijah took it upon himself to make this major sacrifice to help save his brother life.
Being that Elijah just started his own family now he have to take care of (3 month old Daughter “Faith”)
Elijah will be staying at The Ronald McDonald House (1 hour and 30 minutes from home) for about 4-8 weeks to give granulocytes to his brother twice a week so that Paul can receive them every day.
With this process Paul can get back on the road to Bone Marrow Transplant.

When the time approach Paul will begin a 10 day prep that consists of many immune suppressant drugs and treatments including chemotherapy. When his body is ready after the 10 days the transplant will take place. Following that he will still be hospitalized for a remaining 4-8 weeks depending on how he recovers.
In addition, he will need to be nearby the hospital an additional 100 days as he will be very critical for infection.
I will continue to be here right by my son side helping his fight this horrifying illness.
We have put all our faith in God to help us through this hard time not only in our life but everyone that loves Paul.
Please support us in ANY ways you can during our journey.
