On January 17, 2014, Paw Works opened its door to the Ventura County community to assist in making the shelter system, No Kill. In the first 30 days, Paw Works rescued enough animals to relieve the intake pressure, which allowed Ventura County Animal Services to be No Kill, i.e., 90% of the animals in the shelter got out alive and no animals were killed for space.
Since inception, Paw Works has rescued over 8,500 dogs and cats from high kill shelters all across California. To continue the ultimate goal, to address animal overpopulation and abandonment, Paw Works is slated to open its first Veterinary Hospital in Thousand Oaks, CA.
Paw Works Veterinary Hospital will service the Paw Works Animal Rescue intake of 2,500+ animals per year, in addition, provide affordable veterinary care to the public.
In order to provide the best possible care at the new Paw Works Veterinary Hospital, we are working with top companies in the veterinary industry to purchase quality equipment. Paw Works currently has on order, $95,913.80 in equipment . A generous supporter will be assisting the Paw Works Veterinary Hospital with $50,000, leaving a remaining $45,913.80 in out-of-pocket costs.
