Paws for Angie

Donation protected

On February 17th, the world lost an amazing person. At the age of 56, my dear friend Angie Ritchie lost her battle with cancer. She was not only a friend to ALL humans but to ALL animals as well. Angie was kind, caring, soft hearted and nothing made her light up more than helping others whether it be human or animal. She was a regular donor to The Donkey Sanctuary of Canada, The Guelph Humane Society and many others. Angie knew the name of every dog in our neighborhood and nothing brought a bigger smile to her face than her beloved Goldendoodle Jasper. Losing Angie has been one of the most difficult things I have ever endured and I've been desperately trying to find a way to help her name live on....and then it occurred to me. I have always said that when I retire, I wanted return to my home of Nova Scotia and spend my time helping animals. I have a background in Veterinary care and I've dreamt of having a little place where my husband and I could start a dog rescue or a senior pet sanctuary. We both have the same love and compassion for animals. We have both traveled a lot so we decided it would be perfect to spend our retirement at home giving our love and time to comfort fur kids in need. And so for years it has been a dream.
One of the lessons that Angie's passing has taught me, is just how very short and precious life is. We take so many things for granted...our partners, our friends, our families, our pets, our health, even the precious water we drink and the air we breathe. No day is ever promised to us and I now constantly have these two words in my head... 'Don't wait'. Don't wait for retirement....it may never come. Don't wait for next year, next month or even next week as they may never come. And so I have decided to combine my dream and passion to help fur kids in need with the heartache and loss of Angie to ask for your help. To help me realize my dream to care for as many animals as possible and to keep Angie's name and memory alive in every little paw we help.
Angie made the world a better place for every single soul she touched. With your help I would like to keep that feeling going.

Money raised with this Go Fund Me will be used to assist animals in need (emergency surgeries, dentals, food, spays, neuters etc.). Every rescue/veterinary hospital that we assist will know that these precious animals are being helped in memory of Angie Ritchie and all pets cared for will be documented on the Facebook page 'Paws for Angie'. While this will start out in Ontario, I am hoping, that this will snowball into something bigger that I can continue here as well as back home in Nova Scotia when I retire.
