Supporting small animal rescue

Donation protected

Paws 4 Thought is a small animal rescue where small animals of many varieties, including rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, degus, gerbils, hamsters, ferrets,  and many more, who have been found "less desirable" because of health or behavioural issues can find their forever homes to live out their days happy, cared for and spoilt in a home that understands their quirks.

We are not a registered charity, and we provide for the animals without a steady source of outside help. We have a few lovely folks that donate food/bedding and toys when they can, which helps us immensely, but we are reaching out as we have managed to get quite a vet bill built up as some of the furbabies in our care have had some quite serious health issues for us to overcome.

We are very lucky that our vets are so understanding and are happy to let us pay in installments when we have built up a large bill as we have recently, it totals somewhere in the region of £500. That figure doesn't include the seperate bill for the exotics vet for £400 that we had to clear on the day of the visit with our ferret (see below for details of her story).

Some examples of this are Conan - our syrian male hamster, who came to us after he lost one of his eyeballs in a fight with a cage mate, who has needed lots of TLC to ensure the socket healed up and sealed over without infection.

Splotch and Spot - twin sister rats who required surgery to remove lumps from them, poor Splotch's lump was so large that it was approx the same weight as she was, and covered half her body, meaning she now has a scar from wrist of her front paw to the top of her back haunch.

Shadow - one of our female ferrets who managed to rip her claw straight out of her toe while playing.

Houdini - our newest rescue, who was living rough in a shed for three weeks after he escaped from wherever he had called home, damaging his eye in the process.

These are just some of the most recent vet visits, other recent have included our ferret Misty who started bleeding into her abdomen which ment rushing her to the exotics vet in Chester to try and save her, sadly it wasn't possible to do so.

So if you have been touched by these stories, and would like to help ensure we can continue to help these animals that are discarded through no real fault of their own, then please consider donating to our cause.

It doesn't matter how small the donation is, every penny will really help us.

Thank you in advance, Nikki, John and the fuzzies at Paws 4 Thought.
