PAX Peace by Peace

The PAX Peace by Peace carries on the legacy of our beloved Dr. Bert de Vries by supporting the Umm al-Jimal Archaeological Project. The project works hand in hand with the Umm el Jimal community, planting seeds for long-lasting peace. Your help is PEACE.

PAX Peace by Peace project creates long term economic opportunity for the people of Umm al-Jimal, Jordan and the refugees who have settled among them by developing the Umm al-Jimal Project Interpretive Center on the ancient archaeological site in their midst.

The PAX Peace by Peace Project Funds

1. The Umm al-Jimal Interpretive Center, a museum and gathering destination in the heart of 2,000-year-old archaeological ruins. This visitor center will be a destination for locals and tourists to come together to support local economic opportunity while promoting and protecting cultural heritage.

2. Micro-venture support for locally owned businesses, including women's craft production, related to cultural heritage.

3. Children's interactive programming based on 2000 years of stories of history shared by local children, refugee children, and and visitors from around the world.

This PAX Peace by Peace project plants the seeds of peace by reinforcing the natural human instinct of generosity. When the first refugees began to flee war in Syria, that instinct opened doors and hearts to them in the small village of Umm al-Jimal, near the border between Syria and Jordan. The people of Umm al-Jimal did not hesitate to give more than they had to help Syrian Refugees. Peace by Pax returns the love.
