Pay for Max's Broken Femur Surgeries
Donation protected
On Friday Morning, I found Max in the road on Highway 9, hit by a car. After giving him a bath and some food, it became evident something was very wrong with his legs. After having X-Rays taken, we now know that Max has two completely fractured femurs, which surprised us as he had been incredibly stoic for two days, showing few signs of pain. These fractures will not heal without surgery and will most likely begin causing necrosis in his legs beneath the breaks if left untreated. I was told by the vet that he either needs surgeries, or euthanasia.
Max is very young, has no chip, and is unbelievably sweet; I intend to keep him as a pet if he survives the ordeal. Aside from his legs he is a healthy dog! My truck’s brakes began making noise recently, and I had not yet scheduled getting them fixed. When I found Max, I took off work and so did not commute to Shawnee. By pure chance, my brake caliper blew out later that day, but it happened while going slow in Norman rather than while I was on Highway 9 or I-40. So, I kind of feel as though I owe this dog since I might have lost my brakes in a much more dangerous scenario.
Funds will go toward (2) femur fracture repairs and follow-up care for Max. A dog wheelchair will likely be included in follow-up care so that he can get around while his legs are healing.
