Pay It Forward: Jamie's Breast Cancer Support Fund
Donation protected
This pay-it-forward fundraising effort is in support of our Jamie as she faces a fight no one should have to fight.
In December 2023 Jamie visited her GP for a routine appointment and happened to mention a lump that she had found in her breast. Random, harmless lumps are common when you are breastfeeding, however it quickly became apparent that this was not one of those random, harmless lumps. Within a week of that GP appointment Jamie was diagnosed with breast cancer.
Jamie is an incredible daughter, sister, wife and friend but the role she shines brightest in is certainly her role as Mum to her beautiful little girls Frankie (3) and Remi (1). She is loyal, fierce and full of love for her friends and family, and she is the first to offer help in times of need. Jamie once said to me that I could call her day or night and she will "bring a shovel and ask no questions". And she has 'brought a shovel' for me (and no doubt many others) time and time again. So now it is our turn to 'bring a shovel and ask no questions' and donate money to enable her to have the financial space that will give her the power of choice of healthcare options, and the ability to focus on spending time with Matt and their darling girls. Power, choice and time really mean a lot to her at the moment.
As a nurse and midwife, Jamie has spent years providing care and comfort to countless patients, but now she is the one in need of care and comfort. She has a team of specialists involved in her care, and her treatment plan is still evolving as more tests are conducted and results become available, but in the next few weeks Jamie will begin her journey through major surgery and chemotherapy.
Jamie has been blown away by the support she has received already via social media and texts/calls and is so grateful for the words of encouragement and kindness she has received. It has given her renewed energy and buoyed her spirits, and my hope is that this fundraiser will continue to build on those feelings of support in a tangible way.
Please take some time to reflect on the kindness/support/help/luck that you have had in your own life and consider this as an opportunity to pay-it-forward to Jamie. I have no doubt that in true Jamie-style she will find a way to do the same when she is well again.
