Pay it Forward to the Bluestein Family
Donation protected
Mike Bluestein is a long time friend of our community. He is my best friend. He is a father of two amazing children, a husband of over twenty years to a loving wife, a giver to others in need and a very hard working man!
Mike has just been diagnosed with MS. For years before his diagnosis, Mike fought through the wide range of symptoms and worked as hard as always in spite of them in order to provide for his family. Towards the end of the summer, Mike’s symptoms became debilitating. To the point that his family and friends insisted he be seen by a physician and finally get answers. He could barely walk. Mike has a very close family and he is a strong man! Seeing their rock suffering was gut wrenching to say the least. Shortly after he underwent a series of tests and procedures to determine the cause of his various symptoms, his Doctor gave him the devastating diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis. Mike’s Doctor also said that he would not be able to return to work until or if his symptoms became manageable after treatment.
Trying to remain optimistic and making a decision on how to handle finances until he gets better, Mike applied for unemployment and began that process. Meanwhile, his wife Gina continues to work hard just as she always has and do what she can to help them stay afloat on one income. Unfortunately, Mike was denied unemployment because the doctor said he could not return to work. This was a devastating and confusing blow to the family. In lieu of receiving unemployment in the short term, Mike now has to apply for disability which is a very lengthy process. Ultimately this means that the Bluestein Family has to survive on one income for quite some time. Mike and Gina’s son Riley just graduated from college and their daughter Sophie is presently enrolled in college. Paying on college loans and a mortgage is going to be incredibly hard and it’s going to be a struggle for this family to afford even the smallest of things for an extended period of time.
Providing for his family and always being a stellar father and husband is who Mike is as a person. As a community, if there is a man who deserves for us to come together and pay forward the little or big things that have been paid forward to us in life, he is one of those men!
