Hi, my name is Randy and my wife's name is Stephanie. The cover photo shows a picture of us years ago when we were in San Antonio for my nephew's graduation from the Air Force Academy.

Last year, Stephanie (Steph to her friends) had a partial hysterectomy. During the procedure, the doctor noted some unusual cells, which ended up being cancer, Endometrial Stromal Sarcoma to be more specific, also noted as HGESS). From September through December, she underwent two additional major surgeries to remove as much cancer as they could find. The doctor was confident that they removed "all they could see" and we waited to find out how successful they were.

Within three weeks, after a CT scan, we discovered the cancer had spread and had done so aggressively. She was immediately put on chemo, receiving the "Red Devil" (Doxorubicin) over the course of the next three months.

Towards the end of January, we received hopeful news that the tumors had responded well to the chemo, but within a month or so, they started regrowing again. Since then, she's been on another chemo-like medication (Everolimus).

During this time, we have both been without work. Steph, for obvious reasons, and although I have taken an odd job here or there, I have been focusing my support on her. As a result, we have been taking money from our IRAs to help cover medical expenses and monthly bills. I have a pension I receive and she has SSDI, but they don't come close to the new bills we are getting for supplies she needs (she has an ostomy), travel expenses to the hospital and doctor's offices, etc. Our insurance covers most of the medical bills, but our deductible is $7000. This year, we met that in late January.

Our hope is to raise enough money to cover the monthly expenses that we cannot cover, at the moment. I'm happy to share any information requested and can send along pictures, as needed. It's a difficult thing to do in asking for help. We aren't used to it and like to be on the side of providing help, instead. I hope that we can get back to that soon.
