Paying Tribute to Baby Chance Lightning Halloran
Donation protected
The thing you learn after spending so much time in the NICU is that no adult is really ever in charge. It doesn’t matter if you are a Physician, nurse, therapist or the NICU custodian. You are never the boss of these tiny warriors. Despite the constant worries, victories, and cuddles. The tiniest ones are always in charge.
In our time spent at UPMC Children’s Hospital these past 400 days, we learned to recognize that Baby Chance Lightning has always been in charge of the outcome of each of his and our days in the NICU.
On April 23rd 2021, Chance William “Lightning” Kacin Halloran made the decision that he wanted to be resting in the arms of his Mom, Kasee again.
Saturday night when the heavens opened to take our little Chance William home, was not something any of us were prepared for.
Watching my son, grieve his son, after Cam had recently lost baby Chance’s mom, Kasee , was the hardest thing we ever had to witness.
How could something so sad and difficult become what seems to be one of the most precious and beloved memories?
Chance’s long 400 day journey in the NICU has taught us that anything is possible.
A tiny, dark haired, blue eyed 1#12 ounce, 12 inch baby boy born in the height of a Pandemic brought forth such incredible hope and inspiration for so many of us.
I decided to share Chances journey through Social Media as an outlet of my frustrations of being not able to physically meet our 4th Grandbaby in person due to Covid restrictions. We were robbed of the first four months of Chance’s life by Covid.
I would remind Cameron and Kasee, who has so much on their plates, to please send us pictures and little clips of Chance. I’m so great full they would. We immediately fell in love with our tiny warrior, despite not being able to hold him. We wanted to share that love with others to brighten everyone’s day during the less that bright days the Pandemic brought upon us.
It is amazing to see the impact Chance’s tiny life has had on so many people. The support we are receiving is beautiful and truly unbelievable.
We are asking for your support one more time. Chance being a Preemie was not eligible for life insurance. His dad has been working at his new job for a few months, but needs help giving his only son the final send off he deserves. If you would be so kind to help by donating, or if not possible sharing our journey on your social media page, to help Cam raise the funds we need to give Chance a proper service & burial.
We have received messages many times from FB friends that We never met personally, but had friend requested us, simply because of Chance’s story.
Sharing Chance’s 400 day journey renewed my faith in humanity.
Chance’s journey showed that people do really care about each other.
Chance’s journey brought strangers together. Many of our friends and family shared Chance’s story, creating a network of strangers that took time from their day to think, pray and send good thoughts for Chance and all of us.
Chance’s story created new families, inside and outside of the hospital. We are blessed to have so many new people to love and call family.
Chance’s journey showed that even the tiniest lil guy can teach us all how we should be brave and courageous.
Chance’s journey showed us all that it is okay to actually be tired.
Chance’s journey gave hope to all of us.
His will to fight for a life that we all regularly take for granted should enlighten us. It should teach us that there is always a brighter day ahead after the storms have passed.
Chance’s journey has taught us about love.
That tiny little warrior gave so much love. Even on his sickest days, he would make you feel like the most loved person on the planet. It was a raw natural love that we are all born with. A love that often grows to become unappreciated and taken for granted as we get too busy with life. Chance also received the most amazing love from everyone.
Chance’s journey taught us about the power of a smile.
It taught us the miracle of what a smile can do to brighten someone else’s day. So many times we would all be working so hard to get a little smile from Chance, but once it happened your heart would just be so full for the day.
What we all would give to see Chance smile one more time again!
