The loss of a child is the ultimate tragedy. On Friday, April 12th 2019 our dearest friend Latoya Mchenry had to endure the unexpected passing of her only son, Benny Odem III at only 19 years old. Only 6 days earlier she suffered the loss of her beloved mother Aileen McHenry.
Having to lay to rest the one who gave you life, only to have to then lay to rest the one you gave life is more than one should ever have to endure.
Latoya Mchenry has spent her life as a nurse caring for others compassionately and selflessly. As a nurse educator she strives daily to empower young people and prepare them to be the future of healthcare. Her faith in God has led her to give to those in her community who were truly in need, without hesitation.
These amazing qualities were passed down to her from her mother and taught to Benny throughout his life. Benny was the light of Latoya's life. He was loving, charismatic and had such a passion to experience the world. With an endearing smile and contagious laugh, Benny brought joy to anyone he knew.
Both of these untimely and unexpected passings have left not only a tremendous emptiness in her life, but has also left her and her family without all the means necessary to make sure that Benny is laid to rest with all the love, respect and honor he deserves.
We humbly ask for your help. Anything that you can contribute will assist Latoya with the funeral and memorial expenses for Benny.
