Paying tribute to Chong Ng

One of our closest friends and a pillar of our community has passed. After quietly and valiantly battling stage 4 lung cancer the last year plus, Siu Chong Ng passed away peacefully Wednesday November 1st 2023. He was 49 years old.

Anyone who knew Chong knows the person he was. He loved to travel, watch basketball, read, and listen to "90's pop diva ballads". He was a selfless leader who would give you the shirt off his back or the shoes off his feet and never expect anything in return. He was a passionate and dedicated Nordstrom shoe dog for 25+ years and impacted countless employees and customers over his tenure. If you bought a pair of shoes at Nordstrom Flagship, chances are he helped you, or at least told you you were wearing the wrong size.

Even on his toughest days he never made himself the center of attention. He took joy in being in the presence of those he loved, and was truly along for the ride. His sense of humor was unexpected, uncanny and only surpassed by his ability to have deep and meaningful conversations. Anytime he gave you advice, you would take it directly to the heart, because you knew it was coming from a place of genuine care.

He lived his life always putting community first. Chong leaves behind a legacy that's truly unique and unmatched and with his passing we all feel great loss. There is a part of our lives which will never be the same and a piece of our hearts that will never be replaced. With this feeling of loss, comes a feeling of inspiration to give back to a man who gave selflessly to so many.

Chong's family has stood with him through his most difficult moments and with his battle and eventual passing comes challenges both emotionally and financially. As his family transitions into this difficult chapter of life, we can pay tribute to Chong by bringing our community together, uplifting his family and donating to this cause so they can focus on their family and healing. Thank you for your generosity, kind words, stories, love and support, it speaks to the impact Chong had on so many.
