Paying tribute to Joseph Ozuna

This Gofund me has been created per the request of Maritza Melenciano, Joseph’s mother. Those who know Maritza/Joseph know that Joseph is Maritza’s whole world, and she did everything in her power to raise him well.

She brought Joseph to Dancers Dreamzzz Dance Studio as a young boy to keep him involved in recreational activities, and off the streets. She ensured that he traveled and got to live the best life he could. He was such an amazing dancer. His dance moves and winning smile captured the attention of so many. He was not only our student, but a friend, and brother to the rest of our students. He was a good kid, full of spirit and so much fun to be around.


On Sunday January 10th, 2021 Joseph was called outside of his home and fell victim to an act of gun violence. At just the age of 18, his life was taken away from him and we pray for justice.


While the city will be contributing a small portion of funds to Joseph’s funeral for this crime, Maritza is left with a hefty bill for his burial. She of course doesn’t want money, she wants her son back and at the very least justice for her son’s life. 


However, we ask that our dance family, friends and anyone who feels moved to donate, help lift this financial burden off of her during this difficult time. All proceeds are going directly to Maritza, linked to her personal account to cover the fees for Joseph’s burial.
