Paying Tribute to Klavio

Klavio Meça was only 24 years old when he unexpectedly passed away on December 26, 2020. Klavio had a smile and personality that would put the saddest person in a great mood. A world class swimmer, Klavio represented Albania in the 2017 World Aquatics Championship. At the event he set a national record in the 400 meter freestyle.
His mother, Ariola, father, Besnik, and younger sister are devastated to learn of his passing. We have created this page to raise money so that his family can bring him home to Albania.
Klavio was a graduate of both the undergraduate Finance program and the M.B.A. program in Business Administration at the University of Bridgeport. He has been a member of the Purple Knight family since 2015 and worked with me in the division of Student Affairs. As the Dean of Students at the university, we are working with Klavio's relative, Elona Marina, to make arrangements for him to return home.
Last year, he was invited to visit with the Albanian Ambassador to the United States, Floreta Faber, as a part of Albanian Days in DC. At the meeting he read a famous poem by Naim Frashëri. It reads, "I don’t fear fire, for I never want to fade. I willingly burn, so I can light and avoid shade. When you see me burned out, don’t ever think I’m dead. I’m breathing, quite alive. Ever being a light spread. I am inside your soul. Don't keep me a stranger to you. All I have is patience, bravely burning through!"
