Paying Tribute to Linda (Weninger, Danysh) Strauss

Linda Liane (Weninger, Danysh) Strauβ
December 23, 1962 - October 6, 2020
As many of you know by now, Linda passed away unexpectedly on October 6 in Frankfurt, Germany at the age of 57. Sadly, there is a lot of uncertainty about how this happened, and it has been difficult for the family to get any real answers. In the end, we know she tragically passed away in the hospital of a brain bleed, after falling and hitting her head.
Her daughters (Sacha, Heide & Amanda) and sisters (Suzee & Nancy) are working furiously to ensure that Linda can finally come home after living in Germany the last 19 years. We are in the process of having her cremated and figuring out how to best get her ashes home from Germany during this global pandemic.
Once Linda is home, we will inter her ashes at Good Shepherd Cemetery and Mausoleum in Huntington Beach, CA. We plan to have a small, private service on Monday, November 23, 2020 at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you consider making a donation to help the family cover these unexpected funeral and travel expenses.
Linda was a loving, caring, helpful, creative and strong woman. She loved her family fiercely. She also made many lifelong friends over the years. Some of her favorite things were rock and roll (she preferred 80s & 90s bands), American football (her favorite team was the Kansas City Chiefs), Winnie the Pooh (she liked the classic E.H. Shepard artwork) and of course, her 3 daughters.
Linda's spirit will continue to live on through her daughters, sisters, niece, nephews, their families, extended family and her friends across the world. We will all cherish the love she gave us and the memories she created with us. We will remember all the parties she helped throw and the pictures she took to celebrate and capture those moments with all of us.
A little more about Linda:
Linda was born in Birkenfeld, Germany in December 1962. In January 1966, at the age of 3, Linda and Heide travelled to Ellis Island, NY where Caesar picked them up and they went to live at Fort Bragg in Fayetteville, NC. In just a few months, Linda had a new baby sister, Suzanne. And in 1972, Linda was blessed with another little sister, Nancy. By then the family was enjoying life in beautiful Huntington Beach, CA, where Linda attended school and graduated from Edison High School in 1980.
In August 1982, Linda gave birth to her first of 3 daughters, Sacha Nicole. While working at South Coast Plaza, she met Joe Danysh III and several other dear friends over the years. On New Year’s Eve in 1983, Linda and Joe were married at the home of her parents, Heide and Caesar. Linda welcomed her second daughter, Heide Noelle in January 1986. And in May 1991, she was graced with her third daughter, Amanda Michelle. Linda and her family cherished many great years together in HB celebrating birthdays, holidays, life events and just the everyday moments in between. There were some pretty epic parties over the years!
In July 2001, Linda returned to Frankfurt, Germany to begin a new chapter of her life. Before long, she met Mike Strauss and they were married in 2005. They enjoyed several years running a bar and restaurant in Eckardroth, Germany that they lived above. Linda moved back to the city in 2010, where Mike unfortunately lost his battle with cancer in 2012. Linda spent the last few years working at festivals throughout the year and hanging out with her friends. Some of her favorite times were dressing up for Fasching and the annual Christmas markets. In 2020 the pandemic unfortunately impacted Linda’s employment too, as it has many people. So, she spent the last few months happy to ride her bike in the park and have the quiet time at home to read books, watch movies, cook, and talk to her family more.
We are truly thankful and appreciative of everyone’s love and support during this extremely difficult time. Many of you have reached out and asked how you can help, so please consider contributing here to help us with these unexpected expenses. If we are fortunate to raise additional fund, we are looking for a charity that supports women and families with similar life experiences to donate to.
XOXO
