Hi there. My name is Payton and I am 11 years old. I have been dancing since I was 3 years old and can't remember ever not loving to dance. I have been on a competitive dance team for 5 years. I train at my home studio, Ballet Etc during the year over 20 hrs a week. I also now train for Team Canada. I am so honoured and feel such pride to get to be a part of a national team. I love what dance has brought to my life. I have made amazing friendships and I embrace the challenged every day to be the best dancer and person I can be.
This spring I was chosen by the CANADIAN NATIONAL DANCE TEAM to represent Canada at the IDO WORLD BALLET, JAZZ AND MODERN CHAMPIONSHIPS in October in Wetzlar, Germany. Auditions for the Canadian National Dance Team brought some of the best dancers from across Canada, vying for a position on the team to represent CANADA at the World level. I was so proud to be chosen to train and compete for my country!!
The International Dance Organization (IDO), is a World Dance and Dance-Sport Federation with a membership of over 90 Nations, representing more than 250,000 dancers, from six continents. The best dancers from around the World will be competing for the World Championships Title!
Dance is not recognized in Canada as a Sporting Event, even though I, like many of the dancers train up to 7 days per week. Each dancer is required to raise there own funds to cover all travel, (air & ground), rehearsal, coaches, Team Canada jackets, hotels and Canadian and International entry fees. As well we have to pay choreographers and costume fees.
The IDO is a European based Organization so our Canadian Dollar must also be converted to Euros. Each dancer is required to obtain their own sponsors as the team has been unsuccessful in obtaining a major sponsor or any Government Support for the Canadian Dance Teams.
Any amount that you could donate to help sponsor me would be VERY MUCH APPRECIATED.
