Help Shannon Fight Cancer at Mayo

Please Help My Daughter Fight Cancer at The Mayo Clinic. Her Birthday is next week and I am doing this as a gift of love.
Shannon lives in Beloit, Wisconsin with her husband and four children. My husband and I live across the street. One grandson is in college. Another grandson is a high school senior and our twin granddaughters are middle school students. You are looking at an earlier photo. I will explain.
The photo was taken approximately 7 years ago on a bright sunny day … a seemingly normal afternoon with Shannon pictured sitting on the wooden back deck surrounded by her four children and holding her beloved cat “Snickers.” This was the precise day before Shannon received news informing her about her cancer diagnosis. Life is now forever changed … but, it is still good. That photo image captured a significant moment in time.
My husband and I moved to Wisconsin a year ago from Pennsylvania to be with our only child and family. I am also a cancer patient who survived the removal of a 27 cm soft tissue sarcoma at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia. The doctor saved my life. It was limb saving surgery; however, I have difficulty walking.
But, this plea for financial assistance is not for or about me. It’s really a prayer for my daughter. Shannon has a very rare and aggressive cancer … Leimyoscarcoma. She has been fighting this cancer for more than 6 years and has survived numerous surgeries at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota and the University of Wisconsin. In addition, she has endured rounds of both IV Chemo and oral Chemo. It held the cancer back for a few months, but recently it reemerged. Mayo informed her that additional surgery is not advisable.
The good news is that next week is Shannon’s birthday and she has been accepted into a clinical trial program that requires her to be at The Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota every three weeks and FOREVER. Shannon lost her hair during prior chemo treatments. It has grown in some because the oral chemo did not destroy her hair. Now, the clinical trial chemo will cause her to lose her hair again. Through all this – we remain hopeful and no one is talking or thinking about “giving up.” She is a cancer warrior and so am I. Our family motto is: “Whatever it takes…” So, I’m reaching out to you for assistance.
We are blessed to have Shannon surrounded with prayers, good thoughts, and hugs from many wonderful friends and family members. However, sometimes we have to be the feet and hands of Jesus. That’s what I’m trying to do.
The positive energy and love that comforts from all the hugs, prayers, and blessings, motivate me to try and get her the financial help she needs.
Please consider donating to help Shannon travel to and from the Mayo Clinic. The cost of a cancer diagnosis and all the related travel, lodging, and medical expenses is enormous. The situation is … we need help. Every dollar equals to one step closer to getting Shannon to Mayo. Clinical trials help cancer patients now and in the future. Thank you for your help.
With love and hope, Shannon’s Mom
